Allapra Diary

Allapra, a small picturesque village 2 kms from Perumbavoor is where we settled after a stint abroad. Nearby is thurithiply my mother's place. It seemed a temporary arrangement at that time. A place close to our schools. But now after 20 years there, it has become home. We grew up there, got married, had children and then appan passed away. This blog is about Allapra, our home.

This election, Allapra comes in the Chalakudy Lok Sabha constituency after the restructuring of the Lok Sabha constituencies. Before this we were known as the Mukunthapuram constituency.
I have been lucky to vote for CPM symbol every time I voted and not for one of the LDF partners. I remember I first vote was for A.P Kurian, then I voted for P Govinda Pillai, of course both of them lost the election. Every time I did not vote the LDF candidate has won the election. This time too I will not be voting, as I will reach Kerala only on the morning of 17th, a day after the polling and hopefully CPM candidate will win.
Schools are closed and children are having a gala time. Easter is approaching fast, palm Sunday over we are in the Passion Week now and soon Easter will be here, followed by Vishu. A few weddings are coming up in the family, and I may be able to attend provided it takes place during the ten days that I am there.
The land price, which shot up during the boom period, has cooled off and we have a ten-cent plot to sell. But the prices being offered are way too ridiculous. We are offering it for way too below the market price, but buyers want us to lower that too.
